Alcoy is a university and industrial city in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is known for its deep history, vibrant culture, and mountainous surroundings. Situated inland in the province of Alicante, it is nicknamed the “city of bridges” due to the many rivers and bridges that cross its landscape, including the Serpis, Molinar, and Barxell. Historically an industrial hub, its economy today is diverse, with strong ties to textiles, and it serves as a significant regional center for culture, commerce, and education. Alcoy is located between the Serra Mariola and Font Roja natural parks. This location gives it a lush, green, and mountainous landscape that is popular with hikers and nature lovers. While an inland city, it is only about an hour’s drive from the coast, allowing for day trips to the beaches and resorts of the Costa Blanca.
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is the country’s cultural, economic, and governmental center, known for its vibrant art scene, modern architecture, and blend of urban life with natural beauty, such as geothermal activity and scenic mountains. Modern and striking, the city is characterized by buildings made of concrete and heated geothermally, with prominent structures including the Hallgrímskirkja church and the Parliament Building.
Reykjavík offers many cultural institutions, such as the National and University Library, the National Gallery, the Reykjavík Art Museum, and the Árni Magnússon Institute.
The city is known for its cozy cafés, lively music scene, trendy restaurants, and a bustling old harbor area with shops and a food hall.
